Verdict Report

Gregg County Courthouse

On January 15, 2019, a jury in Gregg County, Texas rendered a verdict in our client’s favor. The lawsuit stemmed from a Kilgore car accident in April 2016. Our client, Ruth Stewart, was injured in a car accident when another car skid on the wet pavement of Kilgore Street. Ms. Stewart was taken by ambulance to the emergency room where she complained of an injured back, injured neck, and injured hand.

As the pain worsened in the days following the car wreck, she sought treatment from a local chiropractor. The chiropractic care did help relieve some pain. An MRI revealed several bulging discs in her lower back and sever degenerative disc disease. In time, and with home remedies and exercises, the pain has reduced. But, she still suffers from persistent low back pain caused by the wreck.

The jury listened to the evidence and awarded a verdict that was 1.5 TIMES the highest offer of the insurance company (Allstate). Most people prefer not to have to go to trial. But, sometimes insurance companies can be wholly unreasonable with their settlement offers. And when that happens, a good Texas personal injury lawyer will tell you that you just have to go to trial.

Thank you to the 12 women and men from Longview, Kilgore, Gladewater and other areas of Gregg County for helping decide this Texas car accident case.
